"YAANAM" is the world's first science documentary in Sanskrit which focus on India's Mars Orbiter Mission, "Mangalyaan". "YAANAM" is 44-minute film which was premiered on August 21, 2022, in Chennai, showcasing the success of this historic space mission entirely in the ancient language Sanskrit.
Documentary tells about the story of India's Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), also known as Mangalyaan mission. "YAANAM" in Sanskrit means "chariot" in English, symbolizing the journey of the mission mangal.
"YAANAM" highlights the achievements of Indian scientists and the capabilities of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Directed by Vinod Mankara, a National Award-winning filmmaker & was Produced by Dr. AV Anoop.
"YAANAM" Documentry is based on the book "My Odyssey : Memoirs of the Man Behind the Mangalyaan Mission" by K Radhakrishnan, former chairman of ISRO.
Mangalyaan was launched on November 5, 2013, and successfully reached Mars on September 24, 2014. Mangalyaan Mission aimed to explore Mars' surface features, mineralogy, and atmosphere, utilizing five scientific instruments. Yaanam Documentry was made to aim the showcase of the potential of ISRO and the innovative spirit of our Great Indian scientists.
Film is a complete Sanskrit production, with all dialogues and scripts in the classical ancient sanskrit language.
